全てハンドメイドで作られたインディンアジュエリー。こちらのネックレスはトップがナバホ族のものになります。チェーン部分は恐らく、サントドミンゴ族のものでそれぞれが得意とするものがミックスされたスペシャルなネックレスです。
通常のシルバーアクセサリーには銀純度を表す「SILVER925」などの刻印がありますが、インディアンジュエリーではsterling」という刻印で表す事が多いです。
「sterling silver」とは元々イギリスの銀貨の事を指す意味ですが、1870年頃からインディアンが銀貨を溶かしてジュエリーに使ったので「sterling」 と言う刻印が使用されました。
現在では昔と同じ製法で銀貨を溶かして使う作家もいますが、通常のシルバー925材を使っているアーティストもいます。
ネイティブアメリカンの中でインディアンジュエリーを作り始めたのは、実はナバホ族が一番早かったと言われております。
初期の頃は、ただ単にハンマーなどでたたいて加工するものや、カッティングしただけのものが多かったのですが、ハンダづけの技法を覚えてからは、シルバーの上にターコイズの石をセットすることが出来るようになりました。
